VLOG #1: Thai Massage with Jessica Alvarado

With the colder temperatures arriving here in New England, I have moved my road bike workouts indoors where I typically watch a YouTube video to help pass the time. While I have a few “go-to” channels including TED and Marie Forleo, I found myself wanting more snack-able, wellness related content so I thought … if I can’t find it why don’t I create it! Fast forward a few weeks and here you have it … my first ever VLOG (video + blog)!

In my first VLOG, I sat down with my dear friend and fellow 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) Jessica Alvarado to discuss Thai Massage. Now, you may be asking yourself … Why Thai Massage?! Well … here’s the answer: I recently went to an appointment with Jessica where I was scheduled for a 60 minute Craniosacral Therapy session (this is a vlog topic for another day!). After completing my in-take with Jessica and discussing where I was feeling energy within my body she quickly accessed and said “Get on the floor, we are doing Thai Massage today”! While I had heard of Thai Massage, I had never experienced this type of bodywork before so I wanted to take this opportunity and educate you all on it.

In this 25 minute video, Jessica and I talk about:

  • What Thai Massage is

  • Who is a good candidate for this type of therapy

  • What are the benefits

  • And a live demonstration of what you can expect during a session

Jessica also shares her one piece of advice to everyone: The answer is always "I Don't Know".

This vlog was SO much fun to produce and I couldn’t have done it without Jessica and my video editor, Marcie at Rabbit Run Creative. Thank you to these two incredible ladies and Matt Benjamin for always believing in me and pushing me to pursue my wild ideas. I have learned a lot going through this process and by sharing this post I can’t tell you how much I am practicing vulnerability right now! (This is for all my Brene Brown groupies!) I recently read a quote that resonated with me:

Imperfection action is better than no action
— Grace Lever

Although the lighting isn’t perfect, my talk track needs to be tightened and I need to stop using the filler word “um” I chose to still make this vlog public. This quote was a great reminder for me that my first vlog doesn’t have to be perfect, I just needed to do what I set out to which was share what I am passionate about in hopes that just one person will take something away from it. So with that, enjoy my first show and thanks for being patient with me! My vlogs can only get better and better from here as I learn!
